Deuterium lamps: the UV workhorse
Every UV and DAD detector relies on a deuterium lamp for wavelengths below 400nm. They're rated for a fixed number of hours (typically Standard Lamp 1000 - Long Life Lamp 2000), and performance degrades well before complete failure. Tungsten lamps: the visible range
For visible wavelength detection (above 400nm), your DAD or VWD uses a tungsten lamp. Our CD-G1103-60001 tungsten lamp (1000hr rated) fits Agilent G1315C/D, G1365C/D, G7115A, and G7165A detectors.
When to replace
Don't wait for the instrument to tell you. Track lamp hours and order a replacement at 80% of rated life. A lamp running beyond its hours may still light up, but the spectral output becomes unstable, introducing noise that masks itself as method variability.
